PERSONALLY: warm duck feet

Christmas has come and gone, and we had a wonderful holiday! Lots of good food and drink (is Christmas an excuse to start drinking champagne at 8 am in your family? It is in mine.). Lots of fun with friends and family and, of course, lots and lots of presents. Captain and Chunk were spoiled rotten by Santa. It looks like Toys R Us exploded in our house and I have no idea where I am going to put all their new acquisitions. It is a little overwhelming, and to be totally honest, I'm starting to feel like I am being stalked by Elmo and Lightning McQueen. Every time I turn around, one of them is staring at me. Creepy.
I was spoiled this year too. My stationery friends will understand my joy at receiving the ATG 700 Adhesive Applicator!!! (Thank you Sue). I'm also loving my new slippers. My Mom and Dad are getting me tattooed (In case you missed it, the story is here) by the artist who has pretty much covered my brother head to toe in ink. Now, before you go thinking that I have the coolest parents in the world (I do) let me tell you what else my Mom gave me. You know those horribly ugly plastic shoes with the holes in them? Of course you do. Everyone and my mother wears them. Well, I am now the proud owner of fleece lined Crocs. The saving grace of these particular Crocs is that they are tan rather than neon pink. So I don't look like a mutant duck when I wear them. I look like a duck that forgot to fly south for the winter, more likely. She even got cute little Cheshire Cat Jibbitz to decorate the holes. And do you want to know what the kicker is? Even though I still consider these to be ridiculous shoes, I have to admit that they are really comfortable. Plus they are perfect for taking out the dog, grabbing the newspaper or other little jobs that require me to remove my inside slippers. So, thank you mom. I love my new shoes (as long as I don't look at my feet).
My very backward Thank You reminds me....Tulaloo has a giveaway coming up soon! Yahoo for free stuff! Stay tuned for more...

toy overload:

a thing you can do to tone down the overwhelming abundance of toys. pull out a box and pack a portion of toys that the kids didn't receive for Christmas. In the summer, you can pull these toys back out and pack some of the Christmas toys. By rotating them, the kids will feel like it's Christmas twice a year. :)

I do something like that. Twice a year, before Christmas and Birthdays (which are conveniently just about 6 months apart) I sort through all the toys. Broken stuff gets trashed and toys they've outgrown get packed away for future babies (or friends babies). And every few months I rearrange the toys. We have three floors, so I'll bring the bocks up to their bedrooms, move the trainsets to the basement...etc. Just changing locations sometimes gets them re-interested in stuff!

OMG. Congrats on your new ATG. That thing never fails to get me excited! Although furry crocs are pretty great too!
