PERSONALLY: spring cleaning

This is the time of year when most people start scrubbing and scouring and organizing in the name of Spring Cleaning. I say most people, because this isn't something that actually occurs in my house. Someday my husband is going to find out that other wives cook and clean, but right now he seems to be blissfully unaware so lets just keep that between you and I, ok?

This is also the time of year for street sweeping, which is better than the circus coming to town if you are a little boy. The street sweepers, which are accompanied by dump trucks and water trucks and all sorts of wondrous equipment, go up and down our street once every spring. And on that day Captain and Chunk get to eat their meals on the front lawn, picnic-style, so that they can watch the show. This year has been especially exciting since in addition to the street sweepers, we've had a few home renovations projects that have involved lumber deliveries via flatbed truck and masonry work on our front steps. Currently, Captain and Chunk are eating their afternoon snack at the front windows while watching a tree be chopped down across the street. Does it get any better than chain-saws? Apparently not.
By the way, the pictures above are from last year's street sweeping extravaganza. I couldn't resist showing of Chunk's former mohawk (and since I know you are wondering, no - we didn't cut his hair that way. That is just the way it grew in!)
