INSPIRATION: dan zanes

My poor friends are certainly tired of listening to me prattle on about Dan Zanes. Admittedly, I probably have a little bit of a crush on Mr. Zanes. How could I not? He's talented, fun and that hair! For those of you not in the know, Dan Zanes is the former lead singer of Del Fuegos and a current rock star in the world of children's music. I love the daily dance parties we have while listening to his cds, and appreciate that is is really family music that everyone enjoys (a pleasant alternative to Barney and the Doodlebops). My wonderful MIL took the kids and I to see Dan Zanes in concert a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. The entire band greeted every single child after the show; they were so patient and friendly.

So why am I pulling design inspiration from kids' music, you ask? Well, for one thing I love the message and tone of his music. It is all about celebrating life and loving your neighbor. Plus the lyrics are vivid; you can see the music and the concepts play out in your mind. I've got some cute ideas for notecards inspired by Dan Zanes' music kicking around in my brain right now. "Hello Hello Hello" and "Little Red Bird" have been playing in my head constantly, prompting ideas that are just begging to be put on paper. As soon as I find the time they will become stationery...
